Fall holidays party season fun is about to begin!
It’s Fall now in Oklahoma and one of the ways you’ll want to enjoy your home is to have a clean home that is suitable for entertaining your friends and family. Clutter is the enemy of happy Fall holidays!
We only wish the only thing you needed to prep your home for fall holidays is to light a bunch of pumpkin spice candles. While yes, that is a crucial part of getting ready for the change of seasons, there are more important (and not exactly fun) preparations that come with being a homeowner.
- Check out your gutters – Did you know that THOUSANDS of gallons of water typically flow through your gutters from off of your roof each year? A simple, but very important part of prepping your home for Fall activities is to check your gutters and clean out any obstrutions that might inhibit that water flow. You definitely want to do this during the milder Fall temperatures as climbing a ladder and doing water gutter clearing chores is not fun in December and January cold!
- Look for Drafts around doors and windows – Losing precious energy (check your energy bill and you’ll agree) and paying the high price of it is a no win situation. If you are expecting to enjoy a warm and cozy Fall Halloween and Thanksgiving party, you’ll want your doors and windows sealed properly. To check if you have a draft issue, close a door or window on a strip of paper. If the paper slides easily, you need to update your weatherstripping.
- Curb Appeal for Fall Holiday Visitors – Check your concrete driveway for cracks and faults. When water gets into cracks it freezes, expands, and can make the crack even bigger. Enough small cracks can turn into big cracks, and eventually, the concrete can crumble. Plus, uh, you’d probably prefer a driveway without a giant pothole. So, using a concrete crack sealer, fill it up and be done with it.
- Change your air filters – Clean these filters monthly, not just before the fall, and thank us later. Make a reminder on your personal home care calendar, easy to do if you use a free service like Google Calendar, and you’ll always be reminded to change out your air filters. It’s critical in preserving and maintaining your A/C and Heating system, saving you money and keeping your holiday guests breathing clean and properly climate controlled air.
You’ll want to ensure that your home is in ‘holiday shape’ for all the fun that is coming during the Autumn Fall holidays and party season! Use these tips and make a start on getting your home in holiday party action as soon as possible!
